So there we are, 10 years after retirement… skipped Wayside in 2009… no keyboard player… we still like to play; but how? Tom had been doing sound for a local band and heard a keyboard player that sounded pretty good. After a couple phone calls he got Hal Miller’s phone number. Tom made that cold call to Hal as a hail-mary, hoping to get some help with Wayside 2010. The call went well and Hal agreed. Hal is a phenom!… awesome!! (Listen to Time Is Tight., Shake Rattle and Roll) However, still one more step. When Mike left we not only lost keyboards but also an important vocal. Steve knew a guy… [drum roll…] Tim Gomes! Tim played guitar and sang and understood harmonies… just what we needed! (Listen to Roll Over Beethoven.) Back on track.
Nowadays the 4Speeds perform annually at Wayside Park in Pleasanton, CA. “One of these days” we’ll huddle up and make another studio album. Fun band photos below. The ones noted with FJK Imaging are courtesy of FJK Imaging (great job, Fenton!). Also a shout out to Ed Evans for many other great photos.
